Player Information/Rules

Carolina Local Series: AJGT 18 Hole Tournament Series
Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, Greensboro NC, Raleigh NC, Greenville SC)

The purpose of having a local series is to provide AJGT Tour Members with local one day events to make playing more economical. The local series will be open to any AJGT Tour Member age 8-18. The divisions of play will be as follows:

Boys 8-9 (Front 9 Holes for competition, Back 9 Holes optional)
Boys 10-11 (18 Holes)
Boys 12-13 (18 Holes)
Boys 14-15 (18 Holes)
Boys 16-18 (18 Holes)
Girls 8-10 (Front 9 Holes for competition, Back 9 Holes optional)
Girls 11-13 (18 Holes)
Girls 14-18 (18 Holes)


We will have 3 seasons of play in our local series. Spring  January - May Summer  June - August
Fall  September - December. To determined your division of play we will use your birthday at the start of each season. This will keep any player from gaining a age advantage over other players in the field. Each of the five local series will host 10 to 30 events each year. Most of these events will be one day events to be more economical.The 8-9 age division will have the option to play 18 holes, however, their competition will be for the first 9 holes.


AJGT 36 Hole Tournament Series

AJGT felt it was time to have a special series designed to be more economical while providing a PGA Tour atmosphere for the players. Players and Parents will be treated like special guests at each AJGT Tour stop. The 36 Hole Tournament Series begins in August and plays 10 events through May of each year. AJGT will host the "AJGT Tournament Of Champions" in May of each year. This is an invitational tournament for any junior tournament winner across the southeast. The entry fees will be economical and lower than most major junior tours serving the Carolinas. Tournaments will be played at some of the finest courses across the Southeast.

Division of play

All players (Boys and Girls) ages 8-18. The divisions of play will be as follows:

Boys 8-9 (Front 9 Holes for competition, Back 9 Holes optional)
Boys 10-11 (18 Holes)
Boys 12-13 (18 Holes)
Boys 14-15 (18 Holes)
Boys 16-18 (18 Holes)
Girls 8-10 (Front 9 Holes for competition, Back 9 Holes optional)
Girls 11-13 (18 Holes)
Girls 14-18 (18 Holes)
Players must have their 8th birthday during the August-May season.
High School Seniors can play until August after their graduation date.

Code of Conduct:

        Golf is a game rich with tradition. One of those traditions deals with how to conduct yourself on the golf course. We expect juniors to be polite, well mannered, and respectful of their fellow competitors, the spectators and the golf course. (Please read and practice the principles of Section I of the USGA Rules of Golf.) Since golf began, honorable behavior has been the unwritten rule.

We will be having many college coaches watching AJGT Tour Players. Your actions on the course will count as much as your grades or playing skills to the coaches that would offer you a place on their team.

Tour Player Rules:

1.  No club throwing! Club throwing results in automatic disqualification from the tournament. Repeated occurrences will result in expulsion from the AJGT.

2.  No temper tantrums, no vulgar or profane language, and no slamming of golf clubs. If your behavior affects the play of your fellow competitors, you can be disqualified under USGA Rule 1-4. Remember you have been invited to play on this tour and we expect you to act like responsible young men and women.

3. Cheating is not tolerated under any circumstances. You will be penalized under the applicable rule for the first instance. Further instances of cheating will result in disqualification from the tournament and possible expulsion from the AJGT.
 
4.  Receiving advice from a parent, spectator or fellow competitor will result in a 2 strokes penalty (USGA Rule 8-1). Habitual violation of this rule will result in suspension of your playing privileges.  

5.  Younger Players: Caddies will be allowed.
    Middle School Players: Caddies will be allowed but must be a middle school student.
    High School Players: Caddies will be allowed but must be a high school student.
    Caddie are considered as part of the players team and can cause player to receive a penalty for slow play.

6. Rake all bunkers, replace or fill divots as required and repair all ball marks. Place trash in the appropriate containers or put it in your golf bag to dispose of after your round.  

7.  If your parent or another spectator accompanying you disrupts play or does not follow our adult guidelines, you are subject to a 2 shot penalty or disqualification. Parents and spectators will be warned upon the first violation but the player is responsible for his parents conduct at all times during the event. Repeated violations of this rule will cause the player to have his playing privileges suspended.

8. Proper golf attire is required. A collared and mock shirts is required and must be tucked in. No denim jeans or cutoffs allowed. If shorts are worn, they must be “Bermuda” in length. Hats must be worn in the traditional manner (with the bill forward). All players will be required to remove hats when entering Clubhouse facilities at golf course.The committee reserves the right to make rulings and ask a player to leave the course because of inappropriate attire.

9. Range finders will be allowed under the USGA guidelines. No measuring device will show slope or wind.

10. Cell phones are not allowed by any player. Please leave phones in vehicle. Violation of this rule will result in a 2 shot penalty followed by disqualification.

11. All amateur players must walk unless a medical condition requires a cart. (Cart cost are paid by the player) Prizes will be sponsor merchandise or trophy based on number of players.

12. All players should be at the tournament event prior to the first tee time. Their will be a mandatory tour players meeting 15 minutes prior to the first tee time.



Parent Information/Rules
       

Adult Guidelines:
                                                                           

1. Cell Phones are not recommended , if necessary you must keep ringer on vibrate. When using cell phone please stay away from players on the golf course. If a cell phone rings during play and disrupts AJGT players, the person or cell phone will be removed from the course.

2. Do not give advice to any player. See USGA Rule 8-1.         

3. If you trail your group, please pay attention that you do not interfere with the play of the group behind you. Do not walk in the fairway behind your group. We encourage parents to fore caddie for all players in the group. Parents may assist players in finding lost balls as long as it does not require you to cross the fairway.

4. Maintain an appropriate distance from players. We recommend that you stay 50 yards away except when they are on the green.

5. Carts may be used to shuttle players only at the direction of the tournament director or his designee. If you are shuttling players, please make sure that everyone gets shuttled, not just your junior player.

6. Avoid verbal contact with your junior. You may offer encouragement but don't put the junior in a position where it appears that he or she is receiving advice. Parents are not allowed to stand on the tee box of the hole being played by their junior.

7. Abusive, vulgar or profane language is not permitted. Violators will be asked to leave the premises and the junior may have his playing privileges suspended.

8. Remain on the cart paths or in the rough as directed by local golf course rules. Do not walk in the fairways.

9. You are encouraged to assist in raking bunkers. Please help us make sure that the bunkers are left in good condition for all subsequent groups.                           

10. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the course and their use is strongly discouraged in the clubhouse area. Please help set a good example for all of the players.                                                                                                                                                                             

11. Remember – the juniors must carry their own clubs or have a high school student caddie or use a pull cart during the play of the hole.

12. Please pick up any trash that you see left on the course.
   

     We appreciate your cooperation in helping us enforce these adult/spectator guidelines. A kind word or two from you to an offending adult may help avoid an embarrassing situation or keep a junior from being penalized.
